Olivia Tilford Dargan

Olive Dargan was a nationally recognized poet, playwright, novelist, and short story writer who used the pseudonym of Fielding Burke. Much of her writing focused on women and working class issues of the Southern Appalachian region. She was a feminist and a socialist, adding a strong southern female voice to the proletarian fiction of the 1930s. She moved to “Bluebonnet Lodge” in West Asheville in 1925.
